Building Rental
As part of our continuing effort to serve the community, The Providence Athenaeum offers use of the
facilities on a limited basis. Areas available for rental are the Art Room, Conference Room and Reading Room.
The privilege to apply for use of these rooms is granted to the following two groups: private parties and non-profit civic, cultural and educational groups. Please read the remainder of this page for specific details.
The Art Room
The Art Room is available for rental as meeting space for small groups of up to 15 persons. The room is available on days and during hours which the library is open. Housing a long wooden table surrounded by framed art, this room is perfect for smaller gatherings.
Fees: non-profit, $50.00/hr.; private-party, $75.00/hr.
The Conference Room
The Conference Room can accommodate two different group sizes: 1) no more than 40 persons if no refreshments are served; or 2) 25 persons if refreshments are served. The room is available during the day and evening until 10:00 pm.
Fees: non-profit, $125/hr.; private-party, $150/hr.
Reading Room
The Reading Room also accommodates two different group sizes: 1) groups of no more than 100 persons if no refreshments are served; or 2) 75 persons if refreshments are served. The room is available Sunday through Saturday from 5:30pm to 10:00pm.
Fees: non-profit, $250/hr.; private-party, $350/hr.
Entire Building
Allow the entire Athenaeum building to provide an historic backdrop to your gathering. This option includes the second floor, Reading Room, Conference Room and staff pantry, and is available Sunday through Saturday, from 5:30pm to 10:00pm.
Fees: non-profit, $550/hr.; private-party, $750/hr.
Additional Rental Details
Applicants must follow all rules and regulations stipulated in the rental policy agreements. The Athenaeum reserves the right to decline applications for any reason.
All rental rates listed are on a per hour basis. Payment for room rental must be made by check or charge card at least two weeks in advance of the event date.
Please Note: Supervision by Athenaeum personnel is required for all rentals. There is an additional cost for this service.
When renting the Art Room, Conference Room or Reading Room, one staff member at $40.00/hr is required. When renting the entire building, the Athenaeum will require two staff members at $40.00/hr each to be present during the event.
