A Brief History of the Philbrick Award
The Philbrick Award was established to honor Charles and Deborah Philbrick by promoting the art of poetry in New England. Professor Philbrick taught at Brown University and published several books of poetry, including New England Suite and Nobody Laughs, Nobody Cries. Deborah Philbrick contributed her talents throughout her lifetime to help charitable organizations and mentor many of Providence's aspiring young poets.

Submissions for the Twelfth Annual Philbrick Poetry Award will be accepted from July 15, 2009 to October 15, 2009 (postmark date). Guidelines for the award are posted here.

Copies of the award winning chapbooks are available at the Providence Athenaeum for $5 plus $2 shipping. Please send a check with shipping instructions to the Providence Athenaeum, or call the library with credit card information.
